Before your appointment

How to get your cleanest scan.

Your scans are only as good as the conditions you walk in with. Same body, different day, but if hydration, food, clothing, or what's on your skin changes, the numbers will too. Follow the rules below and your month-over-month results will reflect what's actually changing in your body.

TL;DR Form-fitting clothes, 3+ hours since eating, no lotion on hands or feet, normal hydration, no metal, no workout before the scan.

What each machine needs from you.

ShapeScale

A 3D photo of your body. It reads your outer shape, so anything that changes your silhouette changes the result. Same shape in, same shape out.

What to wear essential

Form-fitting activewear

Leggings, bike shorts, sports bra, fitted tank, or compression top. Not squeezing, not baggy.

Same outfit every time

Pack a "scan kit" you keep in your gym bag. Same shape in, same shape out.

Hair up or back

Neck and shoulders should be clearly visible. Tie it up or pull it back.

Remove accessories

Watches, jewelry, glasses off. Empty your pockets: phone, keys, wallet.

Food & water

No heavy meal 2-3 hrs before

A full stomach adds inches around your waist that aren't really you.

Water is fine

ShapeScale reads your outline, not your hydration. Drink normally.

InBody

Sends a tiny current through your body to estimate muscle, fat, and water. Because it reads body water, anything that shifts your hydration shifts your numbers.

Safety note Do not use the InBody if you have a pacemaker, implanted cardioverter-defibrillator, or other implanted electrical device. Pregnant? Let us know and we'll skip the InBody for that visit. ShapeScale is still fair game.
The Golden Rule

Recreate the same conditions every time.

Your 24-hour prep window
Night before
No alcohol. Skip electrolyte drinks, pre-workout, and heavy salty food.
Morning of · 3-4 hrs before
Finish your last meal. Normal hydration, ease off the water in the last hour.
Day of · skip entirely
No workout. No lotion on hands or feet. No sauna, hot shower, or cold plunge in the 20 min before.
5-10 min before
Arrive early. Bathroom break. Stand upright and let your body settle.
At the scanner

No lotions, creams, or oils

On hands or feet. They block the electrical signal and skew the reading.

Socks off, metal off

Bare feet on the plates. Remove rings, bracelets, and smart watches.

Light clothing

Same type of outfit each visit. Consistency beats fashion.

Same time, same cycle

Book around the same hour each month. If applicable, same point in your cycle.

Day-of checklist

Tap each one as you go. Nothing gets saved, it's just for you.

If you had a big breakfast, worked out, or put on lotion, let us know when you arrive. Sometimes we'll still scan you and flag it in your file so we can compare apples to apples next month. Sometimes we'll reschedule. Consistency beats frequency every time.
