Most of us grew up believing that health is a number on a scale. Step on, look down, and the verdict is in. If the number goes down, you're winning. If it doesn't, you're not trying hard enough. It's a simple story — and it's almost entirely wrong.
The Problem With Weight
Body weight tells you almost nothing useful on its own. It doesn't tell you how much of that weight is fat versus lean muscle. It doesn't tell you where your fat is distributed — and location matters enormously. It doesn't tell you how your metabolic health is trending, or whether the changes you're making are actually improving your risk profile. A person can lose 5 kilograms and get metabolically worse. Another can gain 3 kilograms and dramatically improve their health markers. The scale captures neither of these realities.
We built TechNSports because we believe health optimization deserves better tools — and better questions.
What We Measure Instead
Our starting point is body composition: the ratio of fat mass to lean mass, where fat is located, how your visceral fat compares to your subcutaneous fat, and how your body's proportions relate to known health risk indicators. We use a ShapeScale 3D optical scanner — a full-body scan that generates over 400 measurements in under 60 seconds — to build a precise, data-rich picture of where you are right now.
That picture isn't a judgment. It's a baseline. From there, every decision we make — your fitness programming, your nutrition guidance, your lab panel recommendations — is calibrated to move the specific markers that matter for your specific body and goals.
Science as a Practice, Not a Badge
There's a lot of health content that uses scientific language as decoration. Phrases like "clinically proven" or "research-backed" get attached to products and programs that have nothing of the sort behind them. We find that dishonest, and we've built TechNSports to be different.
When we recommend a nutrition approach, it's grounded in how macronutrient timing and food quality interact with body composition — not in a trend. When we track your progress, we track the metrics that longitudinal research has shown to be predictive of health outcomes: body fat percentage, lean mass retention, waist-to-height ratio, grip strength, resting metrics. We use a proprietary system called TechPoints to make nutrition guidance precise, personalized, and genuinely actionable — not a generic calorie count.
And when something falls outside our scope — lab interpretation, medication decisions, clinical diagnosis — we refer you to the right specialist. That's not a limitation. It's how responsible health support works.
Two Founders, One Complementary Vision
TechNSports was built by two people with very different backgrounds that happen to fit together perfectly. Jesus Garcia holds a PhD in Biotechnology — his lens is data, research, physiological mechanisms, and the science underneath the surface. Stephanie Garcia is a Certified Personal Trainer — her lens is movement, habit formation, what actually works in real training sessions with real people, and how to keep someone motivated and progressing over months, not days.
Most health businesses are built around one of these perspectives. We believe you need both. The science without the coaching is just information. The coaching without the science is just intuition. Together, they produce something more useful: a system that is rigorous enough to be trustworthy and human enough to actually work in your life.
Why Mérida
We chose to build TechNSports in Mérida, Yucatán deliberately. The city has a growing community of health-conscious professionals and expats who have limited access to the kind of integrated, science-based health services that exist in larger metros. The nearest comparable offering is typically in Mexico City or Monterrey. We saw a gap, and we decided to fill it.
Mérida also happens to be a city where relationships are built differently — more slowly, more personally, more lastingly. That matches our approach. We're not a gym. We're not a clinic. We're a health science team — and teams are built on trust over time.
What This Looks Like in Practice
When you walk into TechNSports for the first time, you get a Comprehensive Assessment: a ShapeScale scan, grip strength, blood pressure, resting heart rate, and oxygen saturation. You leave with a Digital Health Report — a real document with your data, your benchmarks, and a clear picture of where to focus. From there, your coaching is built around your numbers, not a generic template.
Over time, we track your progress with the same precision. We coordinate lab testing referrals through our partner laboratories so you can see the biomarkers that body scanning alone can't capture. And as your data evolves, so does your program.
It sounds simple when we put it this way. Measure what matters. Apply science. Adjust based on real data. But very few health businesses actually do it. We're building TechNSports to be one of them.
The goal is not to weigh less. The goal is to be metabolically healthier, physically stronger, and in possession of the data to know the difference.
If that sounds like the kind of health support you've been looking for — we'd love to talk.
